Electrical Lineworker

Lake Region Electric Cooperative has an opportunity for a journeyman or advanced apprentice lineworker in our Pelican Rapids, MN location.

This position is responsible for performing the duties required in the construction, operation, and maintenance of structures, lines and equipment of the distribution and transmission facilities of the Cooperative in a safe, reliable manner. (Advanced apprentice lineworkers are responsible to provide efficient and diligent service while serving as a member of a crew or performing trade skills; additionally, to study, gain knowledge and skills, and complete certification to journeyman lineworker). Qualifications for the position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Graduate of technical college electrical lineworker program and/or enrollment in a recognized Journeyman Lineworker Apprenticeship program. Journeyman Lineworker certification/license, preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Drivers License.
  • Ability to understand and apply electric terminology, specifications, and codes.
  • Ability to operate various equipment such as bucket trucks, digger trucks, cable plow and backhoe. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly. Speak, read, and understand English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Advanced apprentice, demonstrated ability to apply learned skills and successful completion of books and required hours for apprenticeship program.

Electronic Technology Systems Supervisor

Electronic technology systems Supervisor, full-time, based in our Pelican Rapids, MN office, with ability for day travel within our service territory (counties of Otter Tail, Wilkin, Grant, Douglas, Clay and Becker).

This position is responsible for maintaining the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system and equipment at utility substations across our service territory. Engage as the subject matter expert of AMI (Aclara), a data value management, customer communication, and device networking smart infrastructure solution. Ensure successful functioning of the system as a vital process to load management and energy demand response for peak utilization times, impacting the overall financials of the cooperative. Supervise meter technicians and execute inspections on load management equipment to ensure requirements are met for system controls communication.

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Two-year degree in electronic technology or related field and three years electronic technology experience.
  • Previous mentoring or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license, traveling within the service territory 25% of the time for field work.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code.
  • Advanced technology and computer software skills.
  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and understand electric utility terminology and apply knowledge of electrical technology to the job functions in a skillful and timely manner.
