2024 District Meetings are held by Lake Region Electric Cooperative

District meetings for Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) were held on January 4 and 5 for LREC Districts 1, 4 and 7 in Pelican Rapids, Dent and Fergus Falls, respectively. In District 1, incumbent and current Board Vice Chair Kurt Krueger was nominated as a director candidate. In District 4, Lee Mindemann and David Pawlowski were nominated as director candidates to fill the vacancy that will be left by Earl Rydell, who will be retiring from the board after serving in that capacity for 15 years. In District 7, incumbent and current Board Chair Tom Jennen was nominated as a director candidate.

“I really appreciate the grassroots-level engagement we have during our district meetings and know this engagement helps strengthen our cooperative for the future,” stated LREC CEO Tim Thompson.

During the three district meetings, Thompson discussed a variety of topics including: reliability, rates, the great engagement of LREC members, members’ participation in load management programs, LREC’s hard working employees, his appreciation for the work of LREC’s Board of Directors, previous and upcoming member events, the innovative technology and equipment being utilized by employees to best serve LREC members and the solid financial strength of the cooperative.

In total, there were approximately 180 people who attended the meetings, both in-person and virtually. For those unable to attend any of the meetings, each was livestreamed and are available at www.lrec.coop/2024districtmeetings.

The 87th LREC Annual Meeting will be held on April 18, 2024, at 6:30pm. Like years past, there will be three in person meeting location options for members: Life Church in Fergus Falls, Frazee Event Center in Frazee and the Prairie Event Center in Parkers Prairie. The Annual Meeting will also be livestreamed for members who are unable to attend in person.
