ORU Names Final 2024 Award Recipients
LREC’s Operation Round Up program gives back to local communities in our backyard and across the state by helping those who do good. 10 organizations from the surrounding area were named at the October 7th ORU Board of Trustees meeting as the final award recipients for the year, receiving a total of $34,495.
- $2,995 to the Battle Lake Area Fire & Rescue Association for a new thermo imaging camera
- $2,500 to the Bluffton Fire Department for replacement of a rescue vehicle
- $7,500 to Camp Joy for the Boy’s Bathroom remodel
- $1,000 to God’s Acres to go toward the Amor Ark and the Children’s Music Center
- $1,000 to Henning Military Park for black mulch landscaping
- $4,500 to the Richville Community Center to go toward repainting the building
- $5,000 to the Rothsay Rescue Squad for purchase of a new Lucas machine
- $5,000 to Soul Purpose (Matthew House) to go towards ‘Raise the Roof’
- $2,500 to the Valley Lake Boys Home to create a sensory room for youth with sensory disorders
- $2,500 to WCMDA, Inc. (Ashby Men’s Group) to go toward the 2025 Ashby Group Cares Camp
Since 2007, Operation Round Up has awarded $776,520. Funding for ORU stems from LREC members rounding up to the nearest dollar on their electric bills each month. If you would like to participate in ORU, please visit www.lrec.coop/oru.
