CEO Tim Thompson Announces Resignation

Tim Thompson has submitted his resignation as Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) CEO, effective Feb. 27, 2025.

Thompson joined LREC in 2007 and has served as CEO for the past 17 years, using his leadership role to focus on providing safe, reliable energy, advocate for local cooperative governance and creating a relationship with LREC’s member-owners through community involvement such as the annual Boo Bash Halloween Party and Member Appreciation events.

Thompson was recently named CEO of Brainerd-based electric cooperative Crow Wing Power.

LREC’s Board of Directors will take the necessary steps to ensure leadership is in place following Thompson’s departure, including the likely appointment of an interim CEO until a qualified candidate can be hired permanently. Both the Board and Thompson are committed to working together toward a smooth transition and will keep members’ best interests at the forefront of any decision making.

LREC’s Board of Directors and the Cooperative are deeply appreciative of Tim’s many years of exemplary service at LREC and wish him the best of luck in his new role.
