Funding for New ERA Solar Project Placed on Hold

Federal funding for USDA’s Empowering Rural America (New ERA) grant program has been placed on hold for a minimum of 90 days from President Trump’s Inauguration date of Jan. 20th, 2025.

Great River Energy and a consortium of its member coops were awarded the grant in early January as part of the Inflation Reduction Act signed by President Biden in 2022. The New ERA grant program was created to assist rural Americans transition to renewable energy resources.

If released, the funding could be used to develop the 2.4 MW solar project in the LREC service area as planned. The LREC Board of Directors will decide on acceptance based on review of final contracts and pricing for the project.

We will keep you informed through the LREC website, Facebook page and in NewsFlashes as more information becomes available.
