Electrical Lineworker

Lake Region Electric Cooperative has an opportunity for a journeyman or advanced apprentice lineworker in our Pelican Rapids, MN location.

This position is responsible for performing the duties required in the construction, operation, and maintenance of structures, lines and equipment of the distribution and transmission facilities of the Cooperative in a safe, reliable manner. (Advanced apprentice lineworkers are responsible to provide efficient and diligent service while serving as a member of a crew or performing trade skills; additionally, to study, gain knowledge and skills, and complete certification to journeyman lineworker). Qualifications for the position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Graduate of technical college electrical lineworker program and/or enrollment in a recognized Journeyman Lineworker Apprenticeship program. Journeyman Lineworker certification/license, preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Drivers License.
  • Ability to understand and apply electric terminology, specifications, and codes.
  • Ability to operate various equipment such as bucket trucks, digger trucks, cable plow and backhoe.

Lake Region Electric Cooperative has an opportunity for a full-time (30hrs or more, 5 days per week) executive communications assistant in our Pelican Rapids, MN office.

This position is responsible for providing detailed, confidential, and deadline driven executive support to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. Effectively captures the message and importance of the CEO’s voice in developing and executing communications content, ensuring consistency and mission alignment. Engages as a member of Administrative Services in internal and external communication, events and meeting planning and execution in support of strategic goals and overall mission. Qualifications for the position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree is preferred.

Electronic Technology Systems Supervisor

Electronic technology systems Supervisor, full-time, based in our Pelican Rapids, MN office, with ability for day travel within our service territory (counties of Otter Tail, Wilkin, Grant, Douglas, Clay and Becker).

This position is responsible for maintaining the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system and equipment at utility substations across our service territory. Engage as the subject matter expert of AMI (Aclara), a data value management, customer communication, and device networking smart infrastructure solution. Ensure successful functioning of the system as a vital process to load management and energy demand response for peak utilization times, impacting the overall financials of the cooperative. Supervise meter technicians and execute inspections on load management equipment to ensure requirements are met for system controls communication.

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Two-year degree in electronic technology or related field and three years electronic technology experience.
  • Previous mentoring or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license, traveling within the service territory 25% of the time for field work.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code.
  • Advanced technology and computer software skills.
  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and understand electric utility terminology and apply knowledge of electrical technology to the job functions in a skillful and timely manner.

Natural Gas, Warehouse, Building & Grounds Service Technician

Our full-time service technician opportunity at the Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) office in Ottertail, MN executes a variety of work responsibilities for effective operations out of that location.

Primary and sole contributor responsible for performing operations and maintenance duties on the natural gas distribution system (Dent, Parkers Prairie, and Miltona areas). As a key point of contact for the Ottertail location execute warehouse responsibilities including, preparing, receiving, maintaining, and storing material in accordance with OSHA specifications for efficient operations. In addition, ensure upkeep of the building and grounds by executing custodial services, snow and lawn care, as well as routine repairs. Qualifications for the position include:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous utility natural gas experience, preferred.
  • Previous experience with material handling and inventory control. Ability to safely operate janitorial and ground maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Operator Qualification (OQ) certification.
  • Knowledge and technical skills to install and maintain utility natural gas equipment, as well as understand maps and records.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, with ability to use Microsoft Office products including Outlook.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance. Be eligible to obtain and maintain a CDL license.
  • Capacity to work standard work hours, Monday – Friday 7:30AM – 4:00PM with flexibility to ensure the building is ready for the workday.
  • Ability to support the operational needs by responding on the weekend or evening to snowfall or building emergencies. Assistance will also be expected during major outages.

This union position’s targeted pay rate for 2024 is $38.33, to be achieved upon completion of a training progression period with a starting wage based on previous experience.
